I feel nostalgic reading it, even though I happen to live here. This book was gifted to me by a close friend 5 years ago and finally I read it today and it also happens to be my first Ruskin Bond’s This is a collection of short cwlled, mostly non fiction, of the time spent by Bond in the town of Dehra now known as Dehradun. A popular wrestler Hassan succumbs to the charm of a flirtatious Maharani and what follows later is his fading charisma as a wrestler in the arena.

Looking for the Dehra I knew — This part is about when Ruskin looks back to the current Dehradun now, and when he compares it with old one. This book is summer when you’ve lived through months of grey wintry skies. Such a beautiful depiction of local life A vagrant in caalled Doon valley — it contains of 5 small memoirs, about authors growing up times, when he was young, and they also have equal smell of good old Dehra as he experienced in his childhood.
There is a clear sense of nostalgia and a sense of longing for the Dehra of that time in the writings of author as he reminisces about the time he had spent in the town as a kid and adult.

Callled are no discussion topics on this book yet. Every bit of callfd story has so much life in it, There’s so much to learn from these stories and so much to dwell upon. For me, reading a Ruskin Bond book is like swimming in a sea of nostalgia.
Pachinko Min Jin Lee. The dejra and simple depiction of daily life in a small town during the pre and the post independence times proves to be an intriguing read.
