I enjoyed the comprehensive scope — my first foray into a systematic theology cover to cover. Great intro book for anyone wanting a survey of orthodox Christianity. I have many systematic theology volumes in my concisf, nearly all of which go in to far greater detail.

Snap shots, sound bites, well crafted sentences with depth and nuance behind them all in one small, accessible book. It is spectacular in its simplicity and in its fidelity to Scripture. A great reference work for the average Christian to read through and then have on the shelf for future use.
Reading in large swaths can muddy the short chapters together. This is an issue in Christian theology. May 10, Megan Lane rated it it was amazing Shelves: His process is similar to the Westminster Confession which he often quotesusing Scripture references to support each conclusion; fortunately, Packer takes more time explaining and discussing each theological concept, making it packeer to understand.
Packer is clearly a Calvinist at heart, and the concise nature of this theology book prevents clarity when it comes to deeper subject, though for the most part is extremely well written, dripped with fundamental biblical foundation, as opposed to majority of liberal theology nowadays which preaches a completely different Jesus to the one in the Bible.

Lists with This Book. The way it pzcker laid out, it is best gone through slowly so there can be plenty of discussion and explanation of each chapter.
This book is great at what it does. Some of the terminology was over This book was a perfect breakfast devotional or rather daily read.
Although easy to understand, it is important–and I highly suggest–that readers take their time when going through this book. It is succinct, chock-full of Scriptural references, pacekr still thorough. My library Help Advanced Book Search. Dive into the vital subjects and pieces of Christianity with this teology collection of definitions and descriptions that sorts through the complexities of God and his Word and translates them into an easy to read format for all.
Scripture references should be checked, theological concepts should be pondered, and further research should be done in response to any unsettled feelings one has toward comments made in this book. Not sure why precisely — I don’t always find theology gripping. True to its title this is a very concise book on theology, but full of scriptural references for further study. This book is also a great tool to do a quick look-up of various beliefs and where they come from, especially when you have a differences in view concerning an aspect of theology.
I highly recommend to anyone who would understand theology more fully without needing to get a degree.
Packer thoroughly explains historic Christian beliefs from a Reformed position. No trivia or quizzes yet. Despite how very long it took conciae to read, I really loved this book.
